My New Baby : Asus K52J

Yesterday, I bought my new baby. *Drumrolls*

K52JR front view

The design is sleek and simply elegant. It is made slim, and lightproof (2.75kg, but i think this is less because i find my boyfriend’s HP Elite Book heavier). Keyboard area is carbonized so it is quite scratch free. Cooling system is placed on the left side of the lappy, unlike the conventional rear cooling system. Best thing I loved on the design is the keyboard itself. I really have a hard time on other laptops with the compact keys, but this one have isolated keys. As one review I read before for NEO 2270N which has the same keyboard design, nagpipilit maging MacBook. hehehe!!!

on the other side...

Specification: Win Win!!! My boyfriend is so excited on this one, and he even bargained for me for us to be able to get this lappy.

See this link for full specs in Asus webite”: http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=CyyiEd0t9iKZ6Afg

We also did check the rating of performance in windows 7:

5.1 rating

With a budget of 37500 php, this is indeed a best buy!!!

I’d loved to take the actual pics of my lappy but the covers are still there… making sure the unit is safe for the 7 day replacement. Still, it leaves me a very happy customer! ^^

    • Maybe you got yours a little earlier. These tech things depreciate so fast!!!

  2. Hi.

Just got mine today. Used it for just 20 minutes and the bottom part of the laptop feels hot already. did you experience the same? is it normal? it’s my first laptop so i really don’t know. :)

    Comment by Vincent | March 27, 2010 | Reply

    • nope. first to get hot is the fan on the left side but it takes some time before it gets that hot.

    • I have the same experience usually when it’s in Power4Gear Quiet Office mode. Entertainment mode works best.

    • Try to avoid charging the battery while you are working with the laptop. Or remove your battery when connected to AC. Charging the batteries while working increases your laptop’s temperature.

      • It’s okay to remove its battery while it is plugged? I mean, is it safe because some parts are exposed?

  5. I got my Asus K52J last October 26 for PhP33K with no OS from Silicon Valley in Park Square.

I installed Windows 7 and then Ubuntu Lucid Lynx running side by side.

I concentrated on loading software to test the hardware and failed to test the keyboard. I’ve noticed lately that the cursor jumps as I type. It could jump one line up or go to the left end of the line. It makes life a little difficult.

Has anybody encountered the same problem? I would appreciate a feedback.

    • Yes you are right. I have to take off the battery while using it because i dont want to find a replacement… costs so much. XD

    • You may have installed programs that run on start up. You may check on them and disable what you dont need.

  12. I have had my K52J for about 1 year now. I originally purchased it for uni so I can run virtual machines on it (4 at once) and it handled it nicely.
But now I use it every day at work. It is my first laptop and I have to say “it’s excellent” it can play almost every game I install on it (left for dead flat out) and if I had to recommend a lappy this is it. :)

  13. For battery issues for this model, you can check on the following things I learned:

    1. When working on your laptop with your batteries on, and you are charging it, make sure that you plug on your chargers first before putting it on your laptop and switching it on. Plugging on the charger directly to your laptop causes the battery to break down easily. Our tech support told me that.
    2. It helps that you invest on a laptop pad with a fan on it. Though the laptop’s fan is on the side, it lessens the heat on the laptop surface.
    3. Do not work on your laptop with batteries on and while you are charging on it. It makes the surface hotter.
    4. Its ok to use your laptop without the batteries on. Just make sure that when you are not using it, you put the battery on to cover the back.

    Hope these helps :)
